This weekend we’ll be at Music Hack Day. The hack is organized by our good friend Henrik, Mattias Arrelid and Dave Haynes. We really look forward to meet all our fine friends from SoundCloud and RjDj.
“The main goal of Music Hack Day is to explore and build the next generation of music applications. It’s a full weekend of hacking in which participants will conceptualize, create and present their projects. Music + software + hardware + art + the web. Anything goes as long as it’s music related.”
We plan on building a tool for musicians and bands to create their own websites. Like PortfolioDeck but for musicians. The idea is to aggregate content from other services and display them on the artists own domain with their own design. We’re going to use SoundCloud for music, Last.fm for shows, Tumblr for news, YouTube for video and more… The idea is somewhat inspired by the site Martin Ström has done for record label Pluxemburg.
We have one problem. We haven’t found a suitable domain yet. Any ideas?
I’ve also been working on something similar, but less “cloudy”. I’ve briefly written about it here http://mokele.co.uk/blog/2009/10/20/digital-diy-and-new-holyroarrecordscom/ and it runs http://holyroarrecords.com/ – that said I’m still interested to see what you guys come up with :) – Enjoy the hack day! The London one was great, at which I briefly demo’d an early version and the concept behind the code
Cool, will do!
